WONCA Europe

Conference Exchanges in a nutshell

Conference Exchanges

  • are organised around a conference of senior or junior General Practitioners/Family Doctors, and participants to the exchange receive a free or reduced conference fee
  • usually include a visit of one to three days to a GP/FD office in that country, offering a chance to better understand the local health and primary care system
  • usually include a dedicated workshop and/or presentation and/or organised group discussion for all participants from different countries to exchange ideas and learn from each other
  • have a superb social programme with a lot of fun activities and sightseeing either in smaller groups or with all the exchange participants
  • some exchanges also offer free accomodation (usually as a guest of a GP/FD trainee) and/or (some) reimbursed travel expenses
  • places are limited (usually one participant/country), with most exchanges having around 20 participants from more than 10 countries
  • in order to be selected you have to contact your National Europe Council member by a given date, following the announcement made on VdGM.eu (look for the Conference Exchanges tag) or VdGM's Facebook group
